Bullivant Houser has an opening for a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Clerk to join our busy Financial Services Department in the Portland office.
The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for processing incoming payments in compliance with financial policies and firm procedures. This position provides general support to the Client Accounting Manager and our Client Accounting Coordinators. We are seeking someone who enjoys playing a vital role in a busy team-oriented environment.
Essential Functions Include:
- Posting of daily cash receipts, including transmission to the bank
- Communicate with internal and external clients regarding inquiries, billing, and/or payment issues
- Process write-offs in accordance with firm policies
- Research and facilitate return of unclaimed property to clients
- Additional ad hoc duties as assigned
The ideal candidate has:
- 1-3 years of accounts receivable or billing experience, or equivalent education and work experience
- Associate’s degree or college level coursework in accounting preferred
- Sound understanding of financial concepts and ability to perform calculations for a variety of transactions
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong computer skills, including solid skills in the Microsoft Office suite, in particular with Excel. Experience using accounting software systems a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with attorneys, staff, clients, and/or vendors.
