12:00-12:05 p.m. Welcome and Introductory Remarks.
12:05-2:10 p.m. Getting the Most Out of the Rules. Stephen English, Peter Richter and Courtney Angeli will discuss making effective and efficient use of the various discovery devices set forth in the Federal Rules.
2:20-3:20 p.m. Mandatory Conferral Requirements & Ethics/Professionalism, with Judge Anna Brown, Judge John Acosta, Richard Vangelisti, and Scott Hunt. This panel will cover Oregon's mandatory conferral requirements and practical steps lawyers can take to effectively advocate for their clients while maintaining the utmost professionalism expected of Oregon lawyers.
3:20-3:50 p.m. Discovery the Old-Fashioned Way. Criminal defense attorney John Henry Hingson III will talk about methods for gathering information and materials without using the formal procedures in the Federal Rules.
4:00-5:00 p.m. Why It Matters. Paul Fortino will discuss how the discovery process fits into the broader picture of litigation strategy and trial preparation.
