Practice Experience

Elizabeth Bain concentrates her practice on the defense of toxic tort and product liability cases. She brings varied legal and professional experience to Bullivant's Casualty Law practice, giving her extensive experience in file management and trial preparation. Elizabeth's experience includes representing clients from all facets of asbestos litigation, including a former asbestos mine, premises owners, contractors, suppliers, and manufacturers of a variety of products. Additionally, she is experienced in aviation and construction products liability defense in both federal and state courts including California, Texas, British Columbia, and Oregon.

Elizabeth developed facts leading to dismissal prior to oral argument on motions in limine for a California case with a demand of $1.5 million and previously played a key role in the development of defense strategy that led to an in-trial dismissal for a federal case with a pre-opening demand of $1.7 million. She is also responsible for aggressively pursuing medical defense in a disputed mesothelioma case that drove settlement down from a demand in the millions to a four-figure settlement.

Prior to joining the private practice of law, Elizabeth served as a Research Analyst at the House Research Organization for the 77th Legislative Session in 2001 in Austin, Texas, researching and writing bill analyses. She was also a Briefing Attorney to the Honorable Lawrence Meyers of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals (the highest state court for criminal cases in Texas), researching and drafting judicial opinions.
